Connect your chain to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ
Ijazah is a great honor connecting your chain to the reciters up to the Prophet ﷺ. We prepare you by perfecting memorization, recitation and Tajweed, then a complete recital before a certified sheikh who grants the Ijazah with a connected chain. The program suits memorizers who have completed the Quran and want to polish and document it, and those who finished long ago and want to restore their mastery before the recital. Classes are held online, in live one-to-one sessions with your sheikh or certified female teacher, from your home.
Ijazah continues the way the Quran has been received since the time of Prophethood: Jibreel (peace be upon him) used to review the Quran with the Prophet ﷺ once every year, and twice in the year he passed away (Sahih al-Bukhari 4998). The Companions received it from him ﷺ orally, and reciters have passed it down generation after generation by listening and reciting back. That is why an Ijazah is not granted for memorization alone, but after reciting the whole Quran to the granting teacher with precision.
The track has clear stages: an initial assessment of your memorization and recitation, precise mastery of Tajweed and of where to stop and start, a thorough revision of the whole Quran, then the full recital to the certified sheikh from the beginning of Al-Fatihah to the end of An-Nas, correcting every note until the recitation is sound. Its length is not a fixed number of months; it depends on your memorization, your mastery and the number of sessions you commit to.
We offer Ijazah in the recitation of Hafs from ʻAsim as the main track, with other recitations possible, for men and women each with a suitable sheikh or female teacher. At the end you receive a written Ijazah with the connected chain, granted by the certified sheikh, qualifying you to teach and transmit the Quran — while constant revision remains a lifelong trust for every memorizer.
The main track is an Ijazah for those who have memorized the Quran, reciting all of it from memory. If you have not finished memorizing, you start with the memorization program and prepare for Ijazah later; you can ask us on WhatsApp about your own situation.
You recite to the certified sheikh in live one-to-one online sessions. He listens to your recitation from the start of the Mushaf to its end in stages, corrects every slip in memorization or delivery, and you do not move on until the previous passage is right.
There is no fixed duration: it depends on how strong your memorization is, how precise your recitation is and how many sessions you take each week. After the initial assessment the sheikh sets out the revision and polishing you need before the recital begins, so the path is clear from the start.
The main track is the recitation of Hafs from ʻAsim, the most widespread recitation in the Gulf and the Muslim world, with Ijazah in other recitations possible depending on the student’s level. Mention the recitation you want when you book.
You receive a written Ijazah in which the certified sheikh records his connected chain to the Prophet ﷺ and attests that you recited the entire Quran to him accurately, making you qualified to teach and transmit the Quran.
Message us on WhatsApp with how much you have memorized, the recitation you read in, and whether you prefer a sheikh or a female teacher. We arrange a free trial in which your memorization and recitation are assessed and a starting point is set. Details of the Ijazah Plan are on our Pricing page.
